Staying Home with Kids? Practice Self Care!

Many jobs have moved to remote, work-from-home options and with all of this time at home, it can be easy to forget to practice self-care. This is especially true when you’re a parent too. Staying home with kids is a stress intensifying activity, just like being at work. That’s why we suggest taking some time out of your day for some time to decompress and destress. Here are our tips.

Movement at Home

We all know the old anecdote from Newton: “a body at rest stays at rest, a body in motion stays in motion”—that applies to how well we treat our bodies too. When we’re at home, we tend to become lax in our routines or tend to just not do them at all. Compound this with kids in the home, and you’ll have a recipe for a lack of proper movement. However, studies have found that one of the huge benefits of working from home is that employees are given the freedom to move throughout the day.

Self-care at Home and the Benefits

Doing lower back stretches three times a day has a huge list of benefits. From mood improvement to good old-fashioned stress relief. Because you are home with the kids, it has never been more important to pay attention to your self-care. We find that practicing recommended stretches throughout the day helps stay-at-home parents to return to enjoying time with their kids and family again due to the release and relaxation that the movements give. The next time you find yourself overwhelmed or stressed from working at home, give yourself some relaxing lower back stretches.
